Respire

That‘s what “falling” in love means.
As the lights dim, I recline into the darkness. The ethereal moonlight of midnight flows along the surface of the skin like a gentle current in the veins.The surrounding stillness is seamless and tranquil, breathing slows, rising and falling evenly. I gaze intently at every inch of that skin, the intricate veins, the uneven pores, the slight reddening after a touch. In the air, only the breath of our skin lingers, complex and ambiguous, yet as candid as new beginnings. The scent emitted with each breath is a signal unique to each individual, and once it enters my nostrils, it becomes impossible for anyone else to replicate. Even breaths, tranquil affection. With each exhalation, the tide recedes, revealing an endless shoreline. We become each other's air, lingering for a moment within our respective bodies.
